At Black Women Play, we are dedicated to the radical reclamation of Black joy and liberation through transformative play dates and retreats. Our mission is to provide Black women with sacred spaces where we freely and uncompromisingly engage in joyful play, forge deep connections, and embark on a healing journey. Through our play dates and retreats, we empower Black women to rediscover our innate strength and celebrate the beauty of our existence, fostering a community of boundless joy, through play, connection, and healing.
Our Story

BWP didn’t start with ideas or theories- it started with three Black women looking to find joy in their lives and their careers.
Doncia Carlos, Kimberly Hess, and Carmen Perkins were answering the call to serve the highest version themselves, their ancestors, and their beliefs that all Black women deserve to play, connect, and heal.
Our Founding team has over 50 years of leadership experience in startups, edtech, education, social science, for-profit and non profit sectors.
